Author Spotlight: Niecey Roy

Niecey, please tell us about yourself and your writing.

I’m really just a bookworm turned writer. I started reading at a really young age and fell in love with the idea of putting my thoughts on paper for all of the world to see. It became a goal instead of a dream after I graduated high school. Live got in the way and I put it off until after my son was born. I enjoy reading everything, but I have only wanted to write romance. Right now, I’m writing contemporary romance, but my heart is in many places, and the stories brewing in my mind aren’t only contemporary.

What inspired your current book?

I was in a fender bender where the insurance exchange didn’t lead to hot sex and a happily ever after. It really just ended up with me getting my front bumper smashed. And then not long after that happened, my car STARTED ON FIRE (electrical fire under the dash, that is). I put the car to rest and the story that had been unfolding in my mind became immortalized on paper.

"Classic cars, garden gnomes, and steamy romance? My kind of book!"

    1. Okay, so I'm going to put you on the spot and ask something I've been wondering since I read that your own fender bender inspired the story. Were you backing and applying lip gloss? ;-)

  4. ha ha!!! Missy Snark!!! I would plead the 5th...however, the truth is IT WAS SO HIS FAULT. I was minding my own business, being a good citizen, when the guy decided he didn't want to exit the parking lot at that exact exit. He started backing up from the stop sign, not having seen my little tiny Cavalier behind him, and just backed right into me. That time, it wasn't to blame...HA!!!

    1. LOL! Okay, good, I'm glad to hear that! The irony of all this is that I used to be a auto liability adjuster--I determined fault in accidents. The opening scene took me right back. {{shudder}}

    2. Rachel behind the wheel kinda scares me... But I'd like to think that Craig let her drive his Corvette at some point...in an empty parking lot, like he said... ha ha!!!
