Adding a Book to Your Goodreads Author's List Before the Release Date

Like most new authors, Goodreads intimidates me. I don't really understand it and I worry about some of the creatures who dwell in the murky depths. Going there can be the literary equivalent of swimming in snark infested waters while clutching a bleeding tuna.

BUT...Goodreads is huge and has snazzy author tools available. Ignoring it is a mistake, so I do my best to understand it. (And also to only dive from within the security of a shark proof cage.)

In the past, I have waited for my books to release, for the title to miraculously appear in Goodread's database, and then simply claimed it. Upon occasion, I've had to add a cover image.

I consider myself slightly savvier now than in my publishing debut days of yore (2012). Part of my marketing strategy for my upcoming new release, BATTLE CRY, involved creating a Book Page for it on my Goodreads Author's List so that readers click that all important button and add it to their "Want to Read".

Add BATTLE CRY to your Goodreads Shelf

If you want to go ahead and add that to your Goodreads shelf right now, I don't mind at all. I'll wait until you get back to explain how I did it.

No, seriously, go right ahead.

Cue Jeopardy music.
