Jennifer Lynne's IMMORTAL SEDUCTION || Author Interview & Series Spotlight

I want to thank you for having me to visit today!

Jennifer, welcome! We're happy to have you answering some questions for our readers. :-)

What does your writing space look like?

At present my writing space is tiny, and therefore a bit of a mess as there is nowhere to put all my papers. I staked out a little niche in the corner of our bedroom and we put up a plaster wall to try and create the sense of it being an actual study, but I still tend to unplug my laptop and sit out in the main living area when I write. Thank goodness for the portability of that laptop!

How long have you been writing?

I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember, though I really got into romance writing about twenty five years ago while at university. I was undertaking a degree in literature and someone dared me to write a “Mills and Boon”, so I did. That first effort was rejected – and well it should have been (it was pretty bad!), but I loved the experience so much I kept at it as a hobby. It wasn’t until I went through a difficult divorce that I decided to turn what had been a hobby into something more, and I completely re-wrote one of my works and submitted it to Red Sage. Seducing Serena was accepted and published in 2009 in the Secrets Vol. 28 anthology with Juliet Burns and Kate St. James. Since then I’ve had another two erotic romances traditionally published (Red Sage and Breathless Press), and four novellas independently published (my Gods of Love series).

Do you have a process for coming up with character names and book titles?

Not really a set process, but for character names I do try to match the meaning of a name that catches my attention, to the characteristics of my heroes or heroines. I have a baby name book that is really helpful in that regard.

In Immortal Seduction, for example, I chose Ashur for my lead hero’s name, as he needed to be a strong and forceful leader of their group, and powerful enough to be a match for Aphrodite, goddess of desire. Kieran’s name was chosen because, like Ash, he was in a dark place. I chose Hugh as my third hero because I knew he was going to be someone grounded and intelligent, less physical than the other two.
In terms of book titles, sometimes the story dictates the title, and sometimes I come up with the title first and the story follows. Immortal Seduction started life as Midnight Seduction - it was going to be a short story about Aphrodite appearing out of the sea and seducing Ashur at midnight, but it grew into so much more than that. In the end the lines between who was seducing whom became somewhat blurred, and the book title changed to reflect that.

What inspired your current book?

In Immortal Seduction I wanted Aphrodite to have the chance to experience mortal love for herself, rather than vicariously through her sons, the erotes. But who could possibly be strong enough to match the goddess of desire in the game of love? I needed a powerful hero, but when I sat down to map out who might fit that criteria I realized one mortal would never be enough. So I gave her three!

Ash, Kieran and Hugh are heroes in our world – firefighters who risk their lives for others on a regular basis. But they are emotionally damaged after a tragedy, and the love and power that Aphrodite is offering are nothing to them but empty words.

I loved writing this story – it felt more emotional than some of those I’ve written, with higher stakes for the characters.

Do you have a favorite character from your books? Who is it and why?

I feel as if I’m being a bit disloyal admitting it, but probably my favorite so far is Gina, my gorgeous transsexual heroine from Aphrodite Calling (Gods of Love 2). I admire her strength and courage in the face of enormous adversity. She was tough to write and I invested a lot of emotion in her. I wanted to create a believable character that would give voice to what I see as a minority within a minority – the “T” in “LGBT”. Hopefully I achieved that with Gina.

Who is the sexiest man/woman alive and why?

Right now for me it is Alexander Skarsgard, especially in his role as Eric from True Blood. I melt a little inside every time I see his gorgeous face and body! Did I Google and replay that nude scene atop the snow covered mountain in the latest episode of True Blood? Um…maybe. ;) More than once? Um…maybe. *blush*

Is there anything else you'd really like our readers to know?

Immortal Seduction, and the other novellas in the Gods of Love series, are designed as stand-alone reads with a common theme of the erotes (ancient Greek gods of love) in a modern-day world. Even if you haven’t read books 1-3 in this series, it won’t matter as the stories can be read in any order.

Quick quiz:

  • Favorite food?  Anything savory – especially cheese, crackers and “nibbles”
  • Favorite color?  Green
  • Favorite animal?  Cat
  • Biggest pet peeve?  People who talk incessantly and never listen.
  • Dream car?  A white BMW convertible

IMMORTAL SEDUCTION (Gods of Love 4)
Some seek love, some seek power. For Aphrodite, the two are permanently intertwined. And when the goddess of desire yearns for love, who among mortals could possibly resist her power?

Firefighters Ashur, Kieran and Hugh are damaged men. A tragedy that took the life of their colleague has left them scarred, both physically and emotionally. Love and power are nothing to them but empty words.

Hoping to reignite their mother’s passion for life and love, the erotes bring these mortal men to Aphrodite’s attention.

But with the blackness inside Ash, Kier and Hugh becoming ever deeper, will it take more than the power of a goddess to save them? And if she loses that battle, how will she rediscover the path to healing for her own emotionally damaged heart?

Warning: this erotic romance novella contains ménage (MFM and MFMM) sexual scenes between the goddess of desire and three hot fire fighters. It is suitable for Adult readers only.
